Our visits to try to get ideas and the purpose behind setting up a blog.

We visited the local Intermediate School and St Josephs School to find out all about setting up a blog.  The purpose for this was to see what we needed to consider re; safety, ideas for on the blog, what we should include and to 'buy into' the whole process of a blog - not just to be told to do it.   We thought the schools we went to were really cool and they had lots of ideas to share with us, thanks Jane and Terry for being so helpful and friendly, with lots of great ideas.

  1. Hi boys. Good to see you leading the way with blogging. I look forward to following your progress and seeing how your writing develops. My Y1&2 class will be envious of your fish. We have a virtual pet turtle - but real fish in our classroom. Ms Donnell

  2. Oh Wow! You will so love blogging! The kids at my school didn't enjoy writing so much a year or so ago because they thought it was boring.... I introduced them to blogging and they now run their own news blog. The thing that surprised me was that most of this class said that writing was their favourite subject at their mid year conferences . They said they love writing because they get honest feedback and ideas from a real audience! Good luck to you with your blogging adventure! I will add you to our blog roll but would love to hear updates from you! Enjoy!!!!

  4. Wow! I'm so impressed at how carefully you researched before setting up your blog. I like the way you have set your blog out and the colours you have chosen make it really easy to read. I look forward to visiting your blog with my class as you add more posts during the term.

  5. This sounds really cool. Setting up a new blog is such an exciting thing to do, especially when you start to get comments from lots of strange places. My name is Marama and I am the principal of a small school 30 minutes east of Taihape. Our school is called Pukeokahu School and you can see our school blog here - www.pukeokahu.school.nz.
You guys might like to take a look at some of my students' blogs to get some ideas. Good Luck :-)

  8. There is nothing like blogging, especially in school. You will be amazed at the connections you can make. It's exciting to share what you are learning and to learn what others are learning. You might want to take a look at these "Objectives and Guidelines for Successful Blogging"at
